In Islam, the holiest of months is the month of Ramadhan, with the holiest of days being Friday, the day of Jummah. Within this month, over a billion Muslims across the globe spend their days fasting, their nights praying and giving charity to those most in need. Today, in that same month of Ramadhan, on the day of Jummah (Friday), we have sadly seen three terror attacks throughout the global world.

Our first thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those innocent victims who were subject to these tragic attacks. Whether it’s a beheading on the streets of France, shootings of up to 28 people (death toll still rising) on a Tunisian resort, with British, German, Belgian and people of many other nationalities being amongst the victims, or those killed in the blast on a Shia mosque in Kuwait; these deaths will never be forgotten and the world will forever remember these innocent souls.

These acts of terror clearly indicate that this evil ideology of IS/Daesh is completely un-Islamic and against the basic teachings of Islam. The religion of Islam is quite categorical, that killing of one innocent person is like killing the whole of humanity; and to the save the life of one innocent person is to save the lives of the whole of humanity (Quran-5:32). If these people actually represented Islam, they would be saving the lives of those most in need, like millions of Muslims around the world, giving charity and helping those most in need globally, irrespective of their faith.

Today, as we sit and remember those that have sadly died in today’s violence, irrespective of their faith and beliefs – let us stand together, irrespective of our faith and beliefs to rid the world of this evil ideological plague, which is IS/Daesh. ‘When good people go silent, all you will ever hear and see is bad people.’ We must never go silent!
